Sweet, Simple, and a Little Bit Sticky
There’s something about caramel that feels like wizardry — one second it’s plain sugar, and the next it’s glossy, golden perfection. It looks fancy, but the truth? You can make it at home with just three ingredients, one pan, and a little patience.
The real magic is how something so simple can transform everything — drizzle it over coffee, dip apple slices, swirl it on ice cream, or sneak a spoonful straight from the bowl (we won’t tell).
And since you’re making it in a CaliBowl, that silky sauce stays right where it should — no sticky drips, no countertop casualties. Just sweet, buttery goodness made smarter.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 6 tbsp butter (cut into chunks)
- ½ cup heavy cream
- Pinch of salt (optional but highly recommended)
Directions
1. Melt the Sugar
Heat sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until it melts into a rich amber liquid.
2. Add the Butter
Carefully drop in the butter — it will bubble up, so stay alert! Stir until fully melted and combined.
3. Pour in the Cream
Slowly drizzle in the heavy cream while stirring continuously until the mixture turns smooth and glossy.
4. Finish with Salt
Remove from heat and whisk in a pinch of salt if you like that salted caramel vibe.
5. Pour + Serve
Transfer your caramel into a CaliBowl and let it cool slightly before serving. Perfect for dipping, drizzling, or devouring by the spoonful.
Pro Tip
Don’t walk away during Step 1 — sugar goes from perfect to burnt in seconds. Keep your eyes (and whisk) on it.
How to Use It
- Drizzle over vanilla ice cream or pancakes
